Here is who we are!

Gypsy Shadow Publishing is a brand new publishing company. Its founders, Denise Bartlett and Charlotte Holley , are veteran authors themselves and have worked in various aspects of the print world for decades. With experience ranging from writing short stories and poetry to full length novels, newspaper columns and reviews to news and investigative articles, Bartlett and Holley are not strangers to the written word.

Gypsy Shadow Publications will begin its journey by following the trend toward eBook publications and other innovative publishing concepts. Each of the principals has a love of and commitment to providing quality, professional, exciting works to the public. Gypsy Shadow came into being as an Indie publishing company for the purpose of giving new and seasoned authors alike a chance to shine in the world of the written word, without some of the hype and pressure of more conventional established companies.

We pledge our utmost dedication to you in publishing manuscripts that are both professionally edited and formatted as well as new and creative. We feel the publishing community affords room for new ideas, such as experimental and multi-genre stories and novels, and we encourage authors to explore their imaginations to produce concepts that have not received the acclaim they deserve.

Chief Editor Denise Bartlett is a former IRS tax auditor who has been writing since 1962, in the third grade. She has written short stories, novelettes and poetry and is working on several longer works. She published newspaper columns on gardening and preparing for and handling tax audits in 1980-83, and has been a contributing writer for many online groups since the ‘80s, including Writing.Com and multiple role-playing and other Yahoo! groups. She has reviewed and edited manuscripts of every genre and from many sources since the ‘70s. She is an avid reader and a prolific writer with a vast command of the English language.

CEO, Managing Editor and Art Director Charlotte Holley holds a degree in mass communications with a minor in marketing and has been published in many Texas newspapers, other periodicals and anthologies since 1980. She has been writing since she was thirteen, worked as a society editor for a weekly news tabloid in 1980 and has edited and compiled many newsletters, as well as writing columns, reviews, feature articles, straight news stories and research pieces. She has a good knowledge of online promotion and has had a web presence for her beaded jewelry design since 2000. She currently manages a number of web sites, both her own and others’. She worked as the Art Director for another publishing company, where she designed the company logo (which is still in use), and learned the basics of cover art design. She has completed several full-length novels and numerous shorter works and has several works in progress.

We look forward to making many new friends here! Shiloh Darke is one of our Authors at GypsyShadow, and she encouraged us to come and make ourselves a part of your community.

Ralphy's last story: A Toast to You

While we were assembling Issue 4 of U Magazine, Ralphy sent me a story he'd recently written and asked me to edit it for him. I did so, checked the editing with Mari, and got Ralphy's approval of the resulting manuscript. We then included the first half of the story in Issue 4; some members of ME will already have read it.

I now attach the whole story, A Toast to You, in its author's memory. It's typical of his slightly surreal wit and imagination - a lovely piece of…

Mad Fab Collab!

Never

Speak soft your words my love
I hear music in your voice
tender kisses from thy lips
a warmth that fuels in me desires

bursting at the seams to be quenched.

Enter into me, slow and sweet
our bodies measuring in heat and motion
we come together, our essence
uniting with the universe
until I am left helpless
a vulnerable, quivering mass
explosions of pure joy escapes my eyes.

Kiss away the tears my love
hold me tight until the Sandman finds me
then leave me to wake in the light and wither away
again, a vulnerable, quivering mass
with tears of unspeakable ache escaping my eyes
and a hollow that once held my heart
gone now, taken away with the dawn
stolen sometime in the night when you left
and went home to her.

Each night I die a little more
dreaming of what can never be
as I have found you
just a little too late.
